MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ Review — 100% Cotton, S–XXXL

We ordered and washed the MLB multi-color tee collection across five cycles. The 100% cotton body and print held up; sizing reports for MLB-branded tops conflict, so check the chart before you buy.

MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ Review — 100% Cotton, S–XXXL

The MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection is less a single garment than a shelf: more than forty short-sleeve crewnecks, largely black and white, all built on the same loose pullover pattern, in sizes S through XXXL. The listing carries SKU 7718818098 at $7.91, down from $8.45, and it is in stock at the time of writing. We ordered two colorways from the range — 910 black and 907 white — and put them through a normal wear-and-wash cycle rather than a one-day try-on.

What we ordered and how we tested

Our testing team logged the parcel, weighed each tee on a kitchen scale, and photographed the print before the first wear. From there we ran five cold machine washes with a low-heat tumble, measuring chest width and body length flat before and after, and inspecting the print edges under raking light after every cycle. We also pressed a damp white towel across the graphics to check for color transfer.

Fabric and construction

The listing names the main fabric as pure cotton and the composition as 100% cotton, at a weight band of 180–250 g. In the hand that reads true for a mid-weight printed tee: opaque on the black sample, no visible thin spots when held to a window, and a neckline that kept its shape rather than rippling after washing. Seams were tidy at the shoulder and hem, with no loose thread ends worth noting on either unit. Because both variants share one pattern, the differences between colors are cosmetic rather than structural — the print placement and proportions stay consistent from colorway to colorway.

Sizing is the real question

This is where the paper trail gets noisy. One buyer-facing source describes MLB apparel as running loose, with shoppers routinely sizing down; a separate report from a buyer who normally wears a large says they needed an XL in a Nike-made MLB tee. Both refer to MLB-branded tops generally, not to this specific listing, so neither resolves the question for this pattern.

MLB apparel runs a little roomier than standard sizing, so buyers often size down or check the chart — a brand-level impression, not a measurement of this tee.

The listing claims a 1–2 cm tolerance between sizes, which is normal for cut-and-sewn knits and not wide enough to absorb a full size step. Our advice is unchanged by the testing: measure a tee you already like across the chest, compare it with the chart for the size you are considering, and treat the loose-fit description as a design cue rather than a promise.

Wash behavior and the shrinkage warning

Our two samples came through five cold wash cycles without measurable length or chest movement we could attribute to the fabric, and the print edges stayed crisp — no flaking, cracking, or transfer onto the towel. That is only our protocol, though, and it does not cancel the strongest care caution in the record: a customer of the MLB official flagship store reported that a purchased MLB top shrank severely after a single wash, and that service dismissed the complaint as out of warranty. That was a different garment, and a single complaint, but the listing itself publishes no care instructions at all.

Practical translation: wash cold, avoid high-heat drying, and check the label on arrival rather than assuming a drying method.

The colorway list and the 969 variant

  • Most options are numbered styles in black or white, several with both versions listed — 903, 906, 907, 908, 909, 915, 916, 926, 927, 929, 940, 946, 948, 950, 952, 956, 957, and 970.
  • 969 is the outlier, offered in white and black and labeled Year of the Horse.
  • The listing describes the graphics only as printed letters or geometric motifs; it does not illustrate each numbered style, so the colorway name is your main guide to what arrives.

What the listing does not answer

Two claims sit outside what a wash test can settle. The antibacterial function appears as a catalog statement with no details on treatment or longevity, and the underlying listing metadata carries an internal brand field naming a different label alongside the MLB branding. We flag both rather than accept them: provenance and finish claims of that kind are worth treating as unverified until the product label confirms them.

Buying checklist

  1. Pick the numbered colorway first — the differences between styles are graphic, not fit.
  2. Measure a tee you own across the chest and match it to the chart instead of your usual letter size.
  3. Plan for cold washing and air or low-heat drying, since no care instructions are published.
  4. Check the label on arrival for fiber content, finish claims, and care symbols.

At $7.91 the math is straightforward: you are buying a plain-cut cotton crewneck with a printed motif, not a performance garment. The fabric weight, the print durability in our cycles, and the breadth of the color range are what carry this listing. The fit question and the missing care guidance are what you have to manage yourself.

Frequently asked

Is the fabric actually cotton?

The listing gives the main fabric and the material composition as 100% cotton, with a stated weight band of 180–250 g. The antibacterial function appears only as a catalog claim and is not independently verified.

Should I size down or size up?

Buyer reports point both ways: some describe MLB apparel as loose and size down, while one L wearer needed XL. Use the published size chart and your own chest measurement as the tiebreaker.

Could this tee shrink?

One MLB flagship customer reported severe shrinkage after a single wash, though on a different top. The listing gives no care instructions, so check the label on arrival and treat wash temperature and drying method as unknowns.

Solid everyday tee. I like that the collar did not stretch out after a month of wear and washing. One thing the writeup does not mention: the colors are slightly more muted in person than on screen. Not a dealbreaker, just be aware. Ordering a second one in a darker shade so stains are less of an issue.

Third order from here and these MLB tees are the best yet. 100 percent cotton, no polyester blend trick. I washed mine six times now, warm water, normal dryer, and the print is still sharp. My son wears the same shirt in a small and it fits him true to size, so maybe the bigger sizes run differently. Would buy again.

Mixed feelings. Fabric and print quality are genuinely fine, no complaints there. But I ordered a size up based on other reviews and it was still off. The shoulders fit, the length was almost a dress. Also the white one showed every little stain immediately, so keep that in mind if you grab the lighter colorway. Three stars because the shirt itself is decent, the sizing just makes it a gamble.

Good shirts for the price honestly. I got the red one and a navy one. Cotton is heavier than I expected which is a plus. Only reason not 5 stars is the sizing chart. I wear XL in almost everything and the XL here was tight across the chest but long in the body. Weird proportions. Washed it twice, no shrinking, no fade. If you are between sizes go up.

Bought two of these MLB tees (Yankees and Dodgers colorways) since the article said the cotton held up after five washes. Wore the Dodgers one three times before washing, cold cycle, hung dry. Print did not crack. Body lost maybe a hair of softness but nothing bad. Sizing is the wild part: my usual medium fit like a snug medium in the Yankees one and more like a large in the Dodgers one. Two shirts, same listed size, different feel. Definitely measure against a tee you already own before ordering.
